Princeton Economics and the Griswold Center for Economic Policy Studies are honored to host this annual conference at Princeton this year. Women in International Economics Conference enhances diversity within the field of international economics by supporting young female economists. This project was launched by Eunhee Lee (Seoul National University), Nitya Pandalai-Nayar (University of Texas, Austin), Meredith Startz (Dartmouth College), and Woan Foong Wong (University of Oregon). The current co-organizers, Laura Castillo-Martinez (Duke University), Mayara Felix (Yale University), Stefania Garetto (Boston University), Monica Morlacco (University of Southern California), Ana Maria Santacreu (FRB St Louis) and Woan Foong Wong (University of Oregon) continue to host this conference at a different institution each year.
The motivation for this conference is to give young female economists in the field of international economics an opportunity to present their research, get feedback from senior academics in the field, build a network, and get advice about how to develop their academic careers. It is integral to give this type of support to junior female economists early in their careers in order to enhance the diversity of the field.
