Academic Resources
Below are university resources undergraduate students might find useful in pursuing their research and academic work.
McGraw Learning Consultants at the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning
328 Frist Campus Center
Appointments: http://www.princeton.edu/mcgraw/
McGraw Center programs can help juniors hone the important academic skills they bring to the Junior Paper. Writers can meet one-on-one with a learning consultant to improve time management skills, to create a plan for writing the Junior Paper, to learn active reading and note-taking skills, or to develop strategies for getting the most out of the advising relationship. Learning consultants are also trained to help students with procrastination and thesis anxiety as they undertake this significant project.
The Writing Center
South Baker Hall, Whitman College
Appointments: http://www.princeton.edu/writing/appt
Drop-in Hours: Sunday-Thursday evenings, 7pm to 10pm
The Writing Center offers student writers free one-on-one tutoring sessions with experienced fellow writers trained to consult on assignments in any discipline. Students may bring writing projects to the Writing Center in any form—ideas, rough notes, or a first or final draft. Tutors offer advice about the writing process, from getting started to revising, and can work with students on essential elements of academic writing such as thesis organization, use of sources, and clarity of ideas and sentences.
Writing Partners
Appointments: http://www.princeton.edu/writing/appt
The Writing Partner program offers juniors working on Junior Papers the option of a series of extended sessions with a single graduate student Writing Center tutor. This is a good option if you’d like a series of regular writing deadlines and feedback on your sections as you write them.
