Congratulations to BCF Professor Jianqing Fan.  Professor Fan won a Faculty Research Award for his “research and impressive mentorship of doctoral students within the fields of High Dimensional Statistics and Machine Learning.” by Two Sigma, an investment firm with a scientific approach to investment management.  Additionally, Professor Fan was the 2021 Le Cam Lecturer, one of the highest honors given by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics to a mathematical statistician once every three years. He spoke at the annual Joint Statistical Meetings (with over 6000 participants) on A Theory of PCA and Spectral Clustering.
